A short note on what shipped in May.
In the app
Calendar exceptions, smaller and clearer. When a parent flags a one-off change to the schedule (school holiday, work trip, swap weekend), the change now shows up in both calendars within seconds, with the original parent's note attached. Before, it took a full sync cycle and the note was buried.
Expense receipts, photographed once. You can now attach a photo of a receipt at the moment you log the expense, instead of going back to add it later. Small thing. Removes a step.
Tone Check, faster. The first read of a message now arrives in under 800ms on most devices, down from about 1.6s. Most parents will not notice. The ones who use it five times a morning will.
In the writing
Three new pieces in the parent library. "When the rage doesn't make sense", "What to say to your mother", and "Sundays". The Sundays piece, in particular, came out of three different parents independently writing in to say that Sundays were the day they noticed it most.
Two new pieces in the repair library. "When only one of you is trying" and "What we mean by drift".
We are deliberately writing slower than we could. The pieces that have to last need to be read carefully, not produced quickly.
What we are working on
The blueprint quiz is being rebuilt. The current version is too long, and we have learned from a lot of the feedback that the question we should be asking first is not "what's your situation" but "where does it hurt today". The new version asks fewer questions, but listens harder.
We are also opening up the directory, slowly. Every practitioner on it has been verified by us. We will add three or four a month, not thirty. The list is meant to be small.
Thank you, as always, to the parents who use dip and write to us. Most of what is good about the app came from a parent telling us we got it wrong, the first time.
